Toronto Raptors status: EXPOSED. Sweaty boxscore nerds will stammer while pushing their glasses back up their nose “Buhbuhbut Dee Tee Bee, the Raptors wuhwuhwon this game!”. Certainly that’s what the boxscore will tell you. But people who actually watch the games (what a novel concept!) know that the game is still a tie because the “game winner” was hit by Danny Green. He is not a good enough player to be allowed to hit a game winner, according to the official NBA rulebook, so the game will continue once the Magic appeal to the league office.
As I was saying, the Raptors have been exposed. They are not even good. A good team would’ve roundly defeated the Magic, who are also not good but are not exposed because no one thought they would be good. Would a Finals contender let Evan “Patches” Fournier dominate them and get the game-tying dunk with 2 seconds left in the contest? No. A true contender would see Fournier’s hair situation, laugh, and then let baldy score no points.
Credit to Fournier, he took advantage of Toronto’s overrated cadre of non-factors. And I don’t want to be too hard on the Magic as a team; they’re better than I thought they would be. Real talk. Even if they would be better off tanking for Zion right now.
