DownToBuck’s pet peeve of the day: when commentators say that a player has a season-high when they could say instead that the player has a career-high with the same amount of factual accuracy.
When I saw Joffrey Lauvergne had 18 points, I immediately said to myself “yep, that right there is a career high for the neckbeard”. I can accurately detect career highs for many players, and I’m not even employed by an NBA teams. The Nuggets commentators should have noticed right away, as soon as he surpassed his previous high of 14, that he had reached heights unheard of for him and mentioned that fact so that the viewership would be enlightened. That is their duty. They don’t get paid to sit around and be dumb.
