Were the hype levels for Derrick Williams ever anywhere near the hype levels that Wiggins and Parker are getting this year? He was drafted four years ago and I don’t really remember. If he was hyped to that level, there would still be people who are excited him even today, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. My most popular Derrick Williams video only has 3,000 views. I think everybody has just given up on this dude.
Derrick is such a huge tweener that it’s doubtful that he will ever settle down into a position. The only two people who get to be tweeners in this league are LeBron “I Wish I Could Resume Taking Roids” James and Jabari “Kneepocalypse” Parker. Derrick “Professor Dubbenstein” Williams isn’t in that list, so he’ll just drift around for a while before going to China and dropping forty a game like Michael “Use French Fries as Ice Cream Spoons” Beasley.
Random aside, but it annoys me how the Kings commentators are gloating that Derrick is doing so well in this game against his former team. I mean, both teams have been horrible for a long time now, and it just seems mean-spirited to rub it in the Wolves’ faces that Derrick scored 17 (wow, 17!) points. They need to look in the mirror and tell themselves “I do commentary for a team that lacks direction, and it doesn’t matter if we traded for the Timberwolves’ bust and got him to score six a game for our losing team.”
