Serge “Ibaka Gaijin” Ibaka only had one block in this game. That’s stupid. I don’t like it. He’s supposed to be an automaton that mindlessly generates blocks for his team. But one block is the same amount that Spencer Hawes got last night. Sure, Ibaka had 10 total blocks in the previous two games, but those games don’t count.
I guess it doesn’t really matter. Hassan Whiteside is a lock to lead the league in blocks unless he gets abducted to the North Pole and all his limbs freeze off. Ibaka knows there is no glory, no fame to be had by being third in the league in blocked shots. Might as well take a breather during defensive possessions so you can score more points. That’s what I do in pickup games and everybody has more fun that way.
