Greg Monroe 23 Points Full Highlights (12/31/2015)

I’m still undecided as to whether Greg Monroe is a good fit for the Bucks, or, in fact, is a good fit for any team. Post-up centers are decidely out of vogue in the current NBA metagame. On the Bucks, he’s especially incongruous because there are no shooters to spread the floor and give Monroe space to operate. On teams who have that shooting, Monroe makes a little more sense, except that nobody really wants to dump the ball down to a center for twenty possessions a game.

Since Monroe only got a three year deal (with the third year being some opt-out thingy that I don’t understand, contracts are hard), I’m not even that mad that he’s a bad fit since Jabari and Giannis aren’t done developing yet. If the Bucks were ruining their primes that would be one thing, but while we wait for them to further their development, somebody else needs to be around to get buckets. Greg Monroe is that somebody.
