First the Suns’ commentators, now the Nets’. Is everyone taking crazy pills? I get that the Nets’ season is a trainwreck and that the Brooklyn commentators can’t wait for it to be over, but it seems like they might have been on some mind-altering substances for this game.
First, one of them deadpans “It helps to be able to shoot in this game.” and they all start weakly giggling to themselves for like 30 seconds in the manner of a bunch of high-school stoners. Then, later, just as Andrea Bargnani is finishing up his 20-point midrange destruction of the Heat with a well-earned free throw, the other dude says, unprompted, “Bargnani has a well-kempt beard. It just always seems to have the right angles on it.”
Out of the blue, he says that. No reason, other than that he noticed Andrea’s beard, remembered all the times in the past when he saw it and it looked nice, and was so moved by the whole thing that he had to comment on it. I didn’t even know beards HAD angles.
