Over a year after introducting my revolutionary “Tucker Rule” in one of my video descriptions, let’s revisit the idea without bias or partisanship.
The first thing to remember about the “Tucker Rule” is that it’s not so much of a “rule” as it is an “alternative scoring system”. Basically, you get points for doing stuff on defense. Things that P.J. Tucker would do. Things like altering shots, playing good help defense, and forcing turnovers. That last one is worth ten DPs (defensive points). Defensive points are added to the team’s score as the game goes on. No longer do you have to be good at scoring to score points!
I started a letter-writing campaign so that people would write letters to the NBA and then my idea would get implemented. As far as I know, only I ever wrote any letters, and I only wrote two. My mom might have written one but she might have been lying about it to make me feel better. Looking back at all my video descriptions, I can’t find where I announced my letter-writing campaign, so that would explain why it failed so miserably.
That’s okay though, because it turns out that P.J. Tucker doesn’t even need to score DPs to show up on the boxscore; he’s perfectly capable of scoring OPs (offensive points). So maybe I’m going to shelve the Tucker Rule until a different player comes along who needs my assistance.
