Normally I would hold the fact that Kevin Knox took 25 shots to get his 26 points against him, but I’m feeling differently tonight. Because right now, I’m thinking, who else on the Knicks would I rather have taking those shots instead? And the answer is no one except for Frank Ntilikina or Luke Kornet. And those dudes, realistically, don’t have the ability to shot 25 attempts in a game without having to resort to some really messed up stuff. Knox does have that ability. He can shoot a lot of different shots. Those shots going in is a whole other matter, but the first step to making lots of shots is taking lots of shots.
That last sentence reads as some sort of all-encompassing defense of shot-chuckers, but that’s not my intent. I’m only talking about rookie shot-chuckers (like Knox) here. Veteran shot-chuckers need to chill out, especially the midget ones with their Napoleon complex.
Unlike last time Knox scored a whole bunch of points, the Knicks couldn’t get the win tonight. And that’s okay, because I’m sensing that the only point of Knicks games right now is to generate highlightable plays by their youngsters so that the fanbase still has some hope to cling to while Kristaps Porzingis rehabilitates.
