Don’t get me wrong, this is a great performance by Spencer Dinwiddie, but it doesn’t feel like the almost 40 points it is, you know? I mean, it’s 39 points, not 40, but that’s still a ton of points and a highlight video showing that many points should feel like it needs epic film-score music to complete the experience. This video doesn’t feel epic enough for that kind of music. Just rewatching it now, it feels like just a regular old 30-burger, which is also awesome but not really that special.
One of the problems was that I forgot to include a bucket, which is now fixed, sorry to the 14 people who saw this vid without that bucket. But the main problem is that there are just too many free-throws, especially at the end. Free-throws are great for scoring points, no doubt about it, but I can’t believe how many highlight videos they’ve rendered uninteresting. All the momentum from all the shots he was hitting, gone, because of the parade of foul shots that he was forced to march in. The fact that the Nets actually needed all of those points to pull out the win doesn’t make it any better.
Now seems like a good time to mention his postgame comments: “I had a couple 3s, boy I tell you I feel like I was 6-foot-3 and light skin.”
I will refrain from commenting on that comment.
