Is it bad that I don’t remember much, if anything, from Dewayne Dedmon’s two years with the Orlando Magic? I probably made a bunch of videos for him (now deleted, but I have backups) from that time period, but the contents of those videos are a mystery to me. Sometimes I think my memory for scrubs isn’t what it used to be. I blame my outrageously overclocked microwave which spews nuclear radiation into my cranium every time I want to make a Pop-Tart sandwich or some of my famous Hot Pocket casserole.
The recipe of the casserole is basically just taking a casserole dish, filling it with a bunch of Hot Pockets of different flavors (unwrapped), mushing it up with your hand so they all sort of mix together, and microwaving it for five minutes. Just in case you were wanting to try my delicacies at home.
But back to Dedmon. I totally remember him being the starter for the WCF-bound Spurs in the 2016-17 season. He was starting most of the end of that year, and even started a few games in the playoffs before being removed from the rotation. In the end, that season, even Popovich couldn’t get the most out of him.
Luckily, Mike Budenholzer found him, brought him to Atlanta, and turned him into a three-point shooter, an ability which we saw fulfilled to its greatest extent tonight. Dedmon was 5 of 5 from deep, a welcome sight for Hawks fans who have gotten used to him (and all the other Hawks centers who like to pretend that they can shoot from deep) bricking most of his attempts. The Nets figured they didn’t have to guard him out there, and normally you don’t, but he made them suffer for it to the tune of a career-high 24 points. Popovich would be proud, except he hates three-pointers now.
