Looking at the Pistons schedule so far, is it a coincidence that there seems to be a clear correlation between Reggie Bullock playing and the Pistons winning? Detroit’s two losing streaks coincide almost excactly with the two times he’s been injured.
My hypothesis, which is based only on my preconceived notions of Bullock as a player and what I presume the Pistons need to be successful: his reputation as an elite three-baller provides the spacing that Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond need to be effective. Without him, the Pistons lack of shooting becomes even more dire, and the end result is crappy Drummond post-ups that invariably result in backboard-shattering clanks.
Bullock hasn’t been as great as last year, where he was one of the absolute three-point shooters in the league, but we’re going to blame injuries for that. Tonight, he looked like his old self, canning threes with impunity and providing a large amount of early-game scoring. I was about ready to turn this game off after he hit a bunch of shots initially, but I bravely perservered until the game got too close at the end and I had to stop watching to save my poor little heart which can’t handle the pressure.
