Now that he’s tied his career high of 27 points, let’s take a moment to think about how crazy it was when he scored 27 the first time. That was crazy! I’m thinking about how crazy it was, and it was definitely really crazy. I almost can’t believe that it happened because it was just truly crazy. In between a bunch of DNPs and single-digit scoring games, he dropped a huge log right on the Warriors as the Nuggets blew them out by 20. And then went right back to being mediocre. Man, that was crazy. So crazy.
It feels a lot more normal now. He’s been in a bit of a slump recently, but he’s still the starter and he gets solid mid-teens scoring games all the time now. Unlike last time, when him scoring in double-figures was reason for excitement. He’s established himself as a solid player in this league, unlike certain relatives of his who seem good but must have some unknown and unseen flaws because teams never given them the minutes they seem to deserve.
This is another vid, just like the Kent Bazemore career-high I just uploaded, where it doesn’t feel that exciting or great despite it being the most points the player has ever scored. Again, I blame the circumstances; the Nuggets lost to a not-that-good-anymore Spurs team, and the commentators were flat. Did they even noticed Hernangomez had a career high? That’s like their one job, to let the people watching at home know about all the cool statistical happenings that are… happening.
