Kent Bazemore Career High 32 Points Full Highlights (12/26/2018)

Is it a good sign when a player scores a career-high in points, and not a wimpy career-high, but a really solid and nice career-high, and it doesn’t even feel like they did much during the game? I can’t tell if Kent Bazemore’s quiet 32 points is good or bad.

Of course, it’s all subjective. If the Hawks had won this game, the points would’ve been way more impactful (shut up “impactful” is a word I’m tired of you language elitists telling me it’s not), especially the ones in the fourth quarter. Or if the commentators had been screaming every time he scored instead of only sounding vaguely interested. Same with the crowd. Those things and more affect the perception of the quality of a performance, it’s not just a matter of the buckets and how they were scored.

Speaking of which, this video would’ve been really sweet if it was just The Bazed God dunking it 16 times. And that leads me to wonder: have I ever made a regular non-compilation highlight video that was nothing but dunks? I’m thinking one of the early Clint Capela vids but I have no way to know for sure. Or maybe those Greg Oden vids I made where he scored like 5 points for the Heat.

But back to Baze. He’s averaging enough points this year where it seems like he’d be a tempting trade target for a playoff team. He doesn’t really fit into the Hawks plans as far as I can tell; he’s old-ish, done developing for the most part, expensive, and the team isn’t going to do anything while he’s in his prime. Then again, he’s the last remnant of that 60-win Hawks team from a few years ago. Trade him, and it will be all gone. Nothing but ash remains.

I miss Pero Antic.
