Damn, this replacement Dante Exum I got after the initial Dante Exum I received was broken is great. This is what I expected out of it when I first placed the order a couple years ago. I don’t know what happened to the first one; I read all the included instructions and was really gentle with it, but it still got all messed up. Luckily the Aussies have a sweet return policy, except I’m still waiting on a status update on my Andrew Bogut replacement.
The only problem with tonight’s performance by Exum was that it was TOO dominant. He racked up 12 dimes in the first half, and it seemed like all of them were to Rudy Gobert for dunks. That’s the best value assist possible; assists to three-point shooters are great, and he had a few of those, but there’s little more effective in the NBA than a Gobert positioned right next to the bucket, ready to dunk on little people.
The Jazz were blowing out the Knicks so hard that Exum only got 1 assist the rest of the game. I was hoping for a rookie Ramon Sessions performance, where he got 24 assists randomly, but the Knicks just did not cooperate. I need to start a list of all the potentially amazing (not like this wasn’t amazing) performances ruined by blowouts. Then I can look at it and get sad about all the 40-burgers by scrubs we’ve missed out on.
