OFFICIAL 2018 SECOND-ROUND ROOKIES WHO’VE SCORED 20-PLUS POINTS IN A SINGLE GAME POWER RANKINGS
1. De’Anthony Melton
No, I didn’t forget any names in the power rankings. De’Anthony Melton is the only rookie picked in the second round of this year’s draft to score 20 or more points in a game so far. Honorable mention goes out to Elie Okobo who had 18 (wow the Suns are good at this whole drafting thing) and also to Hamidou Diallo who also had 18. But 18 is not 20. 21 is 20. PLUS ONE.
This is a pretty good performance for a guy who had 13 points and 6 assists total coming into the game. Remember that game Alec Peters had last year? If you’re a true scrub afficionado (like me) you should definitely remember, and cherish, that amazing performance. This game by Melton is a lot like that, except that it’s about half as good and game in a random mid-season game rather than in the season-ender.
Now that Melton has done this, the Suns can forget about trading an asset for a short-term stopgap PG. I’m thinking of their best interests right now when I say that there should be no trade for Terry Rozier. I like the Suns too much for them to be ruined by that cruddy chucker who fooled everyone in the playoffs last year.
