Every team needs “shooters”. This is 2018. You can’t get away with just trying to dunk it every possession, as fun as that might be to try. The concept of spacing is too firmly entrenched in the NBA psyche to ignore.
The Pistons, just looking at their roster right now, are probably struggling a bit due to their lack of shooters. Here’s a list of the players I’d consider a “shooter”, not just players who “can shoot”.
-Luke Kennard
-Reggie Bullock
-Langston Galloway
That’s not good enough. We all know about Kennard’s struggles this year, both with minutes and with his shot, and Bullock was better last year as well. Plus, he’s sorta injured right now. That leaves Galloway, our hero, as the Pistons best shooter on the court tonight. He showed it in this game. Other games? Nah. So that’s all three of the Pistons’ “shooters” who aren’t playing up to expectation.
Detroit tried to rectify the situation by having Andre Drummond shoot threes. That didn’t work. I still maintain that Henry Ellenson is the answer to the Pistons’ problems, but I may be the only who thinks that nowadays.
