Furkan “The Motherfurker” “Turkish Delight” “Korverkmaz” “Furky Town” Korkmaz has probably retracted his trade request by now. I don’t think it was ever really confirmed in the first place, but assuming he did actually make it, he’s got to realize that his circumstances have changed dramatically for the better since then. He’s getting to play real minutes in the real part of the game where teams are still trying and not just at the end of blowouts where everyone is walking around jacking threes and not playing defense.
He got even more minutes than usual tonight because of the injurement of Jimmy Butler, and he really made them count. I didn’t put it in the video title because I’m sensing a 20-burger for him in the next few weeks, but this is a career-high in points. That should go without saying, but I know there’s a few people out there who subconsciously took his 40-point Summer League game and placed in their database of official non-exhibition NBA happenings.
I’m now thinking about how sweet it would be for him to score 40 in a real game, and it’s making me mad that the 76ers are too good to let him try for it. Winning games is cool, but not really what Philly is known for (insert ancient image of Donovan McNabb standing next to a trophy case that’s empty except for a can of Campbell’s soup), so I wouldn’t complain if they revved up the tank again and let Korkmaz unKork a ton of iffy three-balls.
