The list of youngest foreign-born players to start for the Nets reads like a list of players I most want to make highlights for:
-Rodions Kurucs, 20 years 312 days old (our hero!)
-Yi Jianlian, 21 years 2 days old (there’s no way he didn’t lie about his age but whatevs)
-Sergey Karasev, 21 years, 45 days old (probably should’ve waited a year or two before declaring for the draft)
-Zoran Planinic, 21 years 71 days old (I don’t have a clear idea of who this is)
Credit to the Nets broadcast crew for that list, a list that is way beyond my means to create.
Kurucs is doing really great for himself this season, exceeding all expectations he had coming into it. He’s got the complete package: he can shoot (kinda), he can drive (kinda), and he can play defense (kinda). That’s a whole lot of kindas, but with a player so young and raw, seeing him do this stuff against real NBA players, even if it’s not always consistent, is a good sign.
He needs to bulk up, though. His body-fat percentage looks way too low to be healthy. Isn’t there some sort of minimum where if you go below it you’re at risk of just straight-up dying? He should talk to his doctor because I don’t want him to die. If he dies, that means I don’t get to make highlights for him anymore.
