I need a kind Charlotte fan to tell me why the heck Willy Hernangomez isn’t playing. Because I can’t figure it out at all. I figure he must be severely lacking in the “defense” department, but it must be really awful if that offsets his scoring and rebounding ability.
The Knicks were doing the same thing to him, not giving him minutes despite his production, until they traded him. I thought that a new team would give him a new chance to shine and to prove that he can a nice role-player in the NBA. Like a Spanish Enes Kanter. But no such luck. It doesn’t feel like it, but Hernangomez is actually playing slightly MORE per game than his short stint with Charlotte last year.
So here’s the deal: the Bucks offer one (1) gently-used Thon Maker for him. The warranty on him expired and he might be slightly older than advertised, but he’s not Spencer Hawes and doesn’t resemble him at all so the Hornets should definitely want him. Please. This is a good deal. He still has potential and stuff if you ignore how old he really is and how clueless he looks at all times on the court.
