Spencer Dinwiddie. 6MOY of the Year. Final destination.
Sure, there are some other worthy candidates. But does anyone really want another midget chucker to win the award? And I bet there are still going to be people who vote for Jamal Crawford just based on name recognition. We need to start working NOW to get Dinwiddie the recognition he deserves for being the NBA’s premiere weapon off the bench. He’s in a major media market, which is a good start, but he’s still on the Nets. They may be gaining relevance slowly but surely, but you just now that if he was on the Celtics doing this, he’d probably have his own reality TV show by now. And if his name was Sapenkerov Dinvidic we’d have five feature-length articles written about him by Zach Lowe.
But he’s just Spencer Dinwiddie on the Brooklyn Nets. He gets no bonus points from any aspect of his being, unless you count the fact that he has the best forehead wrinkles in the league. Which he does, but I get the feeling that the award voters don’t take that into consideration when deciding who to vote for.
I have created the hashtag #itsdinnertime for use when discussing Dinwiddie and his amazing exploits on the basketball court. And in a rare change, I’m going to let people use it for free. That’s right. Normally my nicknames and hashtags cost 25 cents per use, but this time, I’m so serious about the cause, I’m going to open it up to the public domain.
Tonight was just another feather in his cap which has like 20 feathers stuck in it already. 37 points, not even a season-high which shows how good he’s been, plus 11 assists. Yeah, it was a double-overtime game so some of the stats don’t exactly count, but it was still a great game, and he was clutch as heck especially with some of his free-throw shooting. Plus, and this is another boost to his sixth-man candidacy, the Nets are actually doing good lately. 9 out of 10 games they have won, am I seeing that correctly? And lots of that is because of Din-Dins.
