Dwyane Wade 21 Points/5 Assists Full Highlights (12/30/2018)

Is there a reason why the Heat can’t just make their “Vice” color scheme their permanent color scheme forever? It’s obviously a huge hit with fans (these jerseys are the best-selling in the NBA right now), and changing the team colors would symbolically shift away from the “big-three” era to the “just a bunch of mediocre role players who we wish would turn into stars” era. And, if we’re being honest, the old black/red/orange was okay, but it was bland. The neon pink/blue combo has the potential to be iconic in a way that the old colors never could be. Even LeBron winning a ring in them couldn’t make them iconic.

I just did a quick google search and I’m not the only one who has this idea. Major news outlets also have espoused this position. That just adds credence to my argument.

If Dwyane Wade were to go on the record saying something like “I wish I had gotten to wear these dope-ass jerseys my entire career, I never would have left for Chicago if I was decked out in this swag”, Pat Riley would have no choice but to make these jerseys permanent because it would signify that the jerseys were a significant free-agent draw. Which they totally would be. If Anthony Davis dragged the Heat to a championship while wearing these, it would be way more iconic than if he wore those ugly red ones. I bet the jerseys even have a non-negligible effect on All-Star voting, if the Heat had any players that deserved to be All-Stars to begin with.
