Chris Andersen is so tatted up with colorful tattoos that it makes me happy just to look at him. Amid the subdued colors of the Grizzlies and Spurs jerseys he stands out like a vibrant tropical bird. A bird with a beard. I guess that’s why they call him “Birdman”.
It’s going to be a sad day when he retires. The league has a lot of players with fully-tatted bodies, but none are as polychromatic as Birdman. But the dude is 37 years old, and, despite seeing limited game time for his entire career, people that old can’t be expected to keep playing basketball at a competitive level. No matter how many tats they have. Soon the time will come where there is no more Birdman in the NBA.
There’s that sadness again. Overtaking me. Consuming me. Dare I say – caressing me? It lifts me away from the hellish torment of earth, the sadness…but now, it is happiness…I am free…
