C.J. McCollum has earned the coveted NBA role of “guy who gets to shoot it whenever he wants, no questions asked”. Most players, it takes years of effort, and years of decent production to achieve this.
C.J. laughs at these other players. All he had to do was show some flashes of promise at the end of last season and not get traded to another team going into this season. That’s it. If I’m Zach LaVine or some other comparable young guard, I’m thinking “why can’t my team be so bereft of offensive talent that I can run around and shoot midrange jumpers until my arms fall off?”
