In recognition of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scoring a career high 31, let’s take a look at how wrong I was back when I wrote a description for his then career-high of 30 back in his rookie season.
“Let us take a moment and reflect on the dismal failure that was the Pistons’ season. Remember: this was a team that wanted to make the playoffs. It’s not like they were tanking anything. They just constructed a roster to win games and failed at it. It’s kind of like the city of Detroit itself; lots of talk about a revitalization but when it comes down to it there is nothing but suck.”
Okay, not about KCP, so we’re still good. I was spot on with this paragraph. The Pistons really screwed up that year. Wrongness status: not that wrong yet.
“Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is not really a shining beacon of hope for next season.”
Oh god oh god oops oops what was I thinking I was so wrong and presumptive oh god.
“I mean, he kind of is, because he’s young,”
Alright, sweet, not as wrong as I could have been!
“but like his entire team he hasn’t had a good year.”
It’s true, KCP didn’t have an outstanding rookie year, but what was I expecting? Rookie shooting guards often struggle with abysmal percentages for a while. Maybe I wasn’t wrong, but I sure wasn’t all that right.
“He does have the lowest turnover percentage in the league. That’s cool.”
I was correct on both counts. A really bang-on sentence right there. Now let’s skip to the last sentence of the description, as the next paragraph is more of a factual account of the game rather than my own nonsensical opinions.
“If they had just not signed Josh Smith none of this would have happened.”
LMAO Josh Smith is the sux LOL guys am I cool yet?
In conclusion: I didn’t mess up on this one as bad as I have in the past, like when I called John Wall a bust a bunch of times.
