It’s only through performances like this that Reggie Jackson is going to elevate his scoring average this season to twenty per game. Assists don’t count for your own point total even if you are, in a way, scoring points for your team. I think that’s unfair to be honest but I’m not going to get into it right now. Basically I think that the assister should get one of the shooter’s points for the basket. But that’s neither here nor there nor anywhere.
Right now Reggie sits at 19.2 points per game. That’s a pretty cool number, but it falls under the category of “scoring in the teens” and a lot of players do it. If you “score in the twenties” that’s an entirely different category, a category comprised only of sick scorers. It would be wise for Reggie to abandon all of his efforts to get his teammates involved in order to gain admittance into this elite group of players. Not just for his public image, but for his own sense of self-worth as well.
