As I’m typing this, my tubby little kitty Japurri Purrker (who I’ve decided is not going to be renamed) is staring and meowing at a wall because he thinks there’s a bird on the other side of it. This seems like some sort of metaphor for the current state of Jabari Parker, but I can’t really figure this one out. I feel like the universe is trying to tell me something profound about Parker, and it’s using my cat as a medium, but I’m too dumb for this. Sorry.
If I figure it out, you guys will be the first to know.
Anyway, I can say with certainty that Parker is looking a little better lately. Maybe even a little thinner? He was one of the worst players in the league to start the season, bad on offense and bad on defense, the killer combo, but now his scoring has picked up a bit and he seems to be trying at least a little on defense. Did he see all those articles trashing him, get embarrassed, and decide to not just coast this year despite being on a horrible team? If so, good for him for taking the criticism seriously. If not, good for him for figuring out by himself (or maybe his coaches told him) that he sucked and needed to step it up.
