The Cavaliers lost this game when whoever that Cavaliers commentator is that isn’t Austin Carr compared what Collin Sexton was doing to #30 on the Warriors, Stephen Curry. It’s fine to get a little excited in the heat of the moment, but comparing a so-so rookie to the greatest shooter of all time is just begging for Universic Karma to come down and smack your booty so hard you get propelled into the fourteenth four-regional dimension (still unnamed). That’s what it did to the entire Hawks organization, who just couldn’t shut up about Trae Young being the next Curry.
It’s a shame too, because the awesomeness of this season would’ve increased threefold if the Cavaliers, who have no talent of note, beat the Warriors, who have a roster composed entirely of All-Stars, 1 through 15, in this Finals rematch. Would Kevin Durant have demanded a trade right there on the court as the final buzzer sounded or would he have waited until they were on the plane back home?
The Curry comparisons for Sexton aren’t even THAT ridiculous. Just mostly ridiculous, but I can see shades of Curry in his sweet midrange game, for example. But you have to wait to share your opinions until after the season is over. Can’t be tempting fate like this, even if you don’t actually say Curry’s name and just refer to him as “number thirty”.
