DeAndre’ Bembry has set and re-set his career-high a few times this season, going from 13 to 14 to 16 to 18. The next milestone is one of significance for him: the big two-oh. Twenty points. In one game. While hisate teammate John Collins, also a prodigious setter of career highs, now has his sights set on forty, Bembry has to be content with getting into the twenties.
Maybe, when Bembry finally scores an amount of points that starts with a two, I will finally be able to dredge up some enthusiasm for him. He’s always been a sort of swiss-army knife type of player, if the knife was actually a spoon and instead of useful tools it had, like, straws and toothpicks. He can do a lot of things on the court but he doesn’t do them consistently. After an initial burst of interest that all young players get, I simply can’t bring myself to care about him, even when he’s playing like LeBron 0.01 combined with JaKarr Samspon 2.0.
If he really wanted me to sit up and pay attention, he would bypass twenty and go straight for thirty. It might take forty shot attempts, but if the Hawks are gonna lose anyway, you might as well have fun while doing it (note: idiom does not apply to this game, which the Hawks actually won).
