Who is this commentator? I know why one of the regular Nets commentators isn’t doing it tonight, because I totally heard him on an NFL broadcast (which one is his side hustle?), but what about the other regular one? Did he die? That would make some sense, because this new guy sounds really subdued. Either he’s subdued because the guy he replaced died, or he’s subdued because that’s just how he is and he can’t get it up for one of the sweetest Nets basketball performances of the last decade.
How sweet, you ask? Here’s the deal: they dropped 144 points tonight. That’s tied for fourth-most this season for a team. The perfectionist in me wishes it was by way of exactly 1 three-pointer per minute, but the reality was a lot more haphazard than that. But it was still a ton of scoring, an avalanche of buckets dumped on the Hawks, with D’Angelo Russell leading the way.
This is the kind of game that makes me wonder if maybe Russell should be retired from my channel. He’s had a few of these monster games this season, and when I have to do too many monster games from one players, that’s a warning sign. If he can put up 30 points with a nice bunch of assists on a semi-regular schedule, that’s basically what Jrue Holiday was doing last year, and he’s gone now. Not from the NBA, but from the DTB Archivium.
