The last bucket you see in this video, De’Aaron Fox hitting a pull-up midrange jimbo, represents the only points the Kings scored in the last 4 minutes of this game. The Warriors scored 17 points in the same stretch and ended up winning by five. Tragedy! There’s nothing worse as a fan than watching a cavalcade of bricks, your team’s lead growing smaller and smaller before it disappears for good and starts going into the negatives. That’s when it becomes screen-punching time.
Fox had a good game except for that stretch at the end. He even got benched for a little bit of it, which seems kinda weird but I’m not a coach so what do I know. He had some turnovers, some bricks, but you can’t ignore all the cool stuff he did in the previous 44 minutes of the game. I’m kinda get desensitized to him now, because he’s so good this year, but his crossover on Stephen Curry was really sweet.
If I had to decide right now, I would give Fox the MIP Improved Player award. My decision would be biased because I literally just made a sick highlight vid for him, but does he not deserve it? They (who?) say that second-year players shouldn’t win that award because they’re supposed to get better as a general rule, but they didn’t see how bad Fox was last year and how good he is this one. Well, they probably did see that, but they don’t quite grasp the incredible improvement he has shown.
