Alright, so DJ Augustin sucking to start the year was definitely because of Josh Smith’s opposite Midas touch. His struggles along with the struggles of his entire team were due to one player’s penchant for shooting bad jumpers.
That was sarcasm. I’m not convinced that Josh Smith has much to do with the successes of his former team. There’s a little bit of that, of course. Getting rid of a player as bad as Josh has benefits on the court and in the locker room. But this hot streak is just too hot to be explained away so simply. I don’t have the answers. Let’s go with plain old luck on this one.
The Mavericks have been very good this year. This was a true test for the new-look Bad Boys, and they passed, mainly because DJ took over the game in the 4th quarter with some swag-tastic shot selection. If those shots don’t go in, he gets benched so Jennings can do the same thing. But down they went, and now the whole NBA world is wondering what the heck is happening.
