Kyle “The Irish Black Santa” O’Quinn would normally have to score more than fourteen points to be honored with a highlight video. However, it is unclear to me whether he will be able to top this performance while wearing a Knicks uniform. With the break-out of Kristaps Porzingis and the unfortunate presences of Kevin Seraphin and Derrick Williams, there just aren’t enough available big-man minutes for O’Quinn to get the playing time he deserves.
Plus, he was 7-of-8 from the field. That counts for a lot in DTB’s book, because shots are fun to watch. Actually, the “shots are fun to watch” aspect of the whole thing is probably why anybody watches the NBA in the first place.
Luckily, as a native Irish citizen, O’Quinn has the full power of the Oireachtas to back him up. Thanks to some lobbying from yours truly, we just got a bill introduced in the Dáil Éireann to prevent the NBA from being televised in Ireland until O’Quinn gets at least 25 minutes per game. This bill has garnered support across party lines and will probably be the first thing that Ireland agrees on since they decided that Guinness is only good for marketing to gullible Americans.
