Does this Spurs commentator have to chuckle to himself every time Boban Marjanovic does something positive on the court? Is something about Boban’s existence inherently funny? At the risk of sounding sensitive, I think he needs to tone it down and just treat Boban like any other end-of-bench player. He’s a professional, right? I don’t see this guy laughing every time Ray McCallum steps on the court.
Fans, on the other hand, are free to go as nuts as they want every time he touches the ball. There is a reason Shaq was so fun to watch; he was simply too huge to big be stopped. Same with Boban. Fans know that they are watching a specimen unique in the NBA, and the fact that he has a funny (to Americans) name just adds to the novelty. He is gaining fans in every arena that he visits, and soon, NBA will have no other meaning besides “National Boban Association”.
