Step aside, Alex Len. There is a new Ukrainian in the NBA, and he has a way cooler name: Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk. He’s also in a way bigger media market and has way better teammates. With all these factors combined, Len is an afterthought to Ukrainians and Americans alike, while Svi has captured our hearts with his deft ability to be teammates with LeBron James.
Svi only made four shots, leading to a video with a shamefully low playtime, and two of the shots came in garbage time (meaning he only had five “real” points scored during “real” game time), but I’m out here unabashedly chasing video views from foreigners/Lakers fans and nobody’s going to stop me.
This video will be a good test to see if Ukrainians still have access to the internet. I know that there’s been some sort of armed conflict going on for a while over there, and it’s very possible that they’re too busy worrying about their own safety to care that their homegrown talent is scoring in double-digits in the NBA. My hope is that, one day, all peoples of the world will be able to enjoy NBA highlight videos without the threat of war looming over their heads.
