A win against a full-strength Warriors squad would’ve been great for the somehow-pretty-decent Kings. Unfortunately, they came up just short. Still a success in a way, but in the end it goes down as a loss in the official records.
I’m just going to say what everyone watching this video is thinking right now: the Kings shouldn’t have sat Bjelica for almost the entire fourth quarter. He had 4 fouls, sure, but at some point you have to take your best players and put them all on the court at the same time. If they foul out, they fouled out by playing and not sitting on the bench wondering why they weren’t in the game.
Another key point of strategy that Dave Joerger missed was not using Kosta Koufos as a goon to grievously injure Stephen Curry. Not too grievously, because you don’t want to get kicked out of the league, but something serious. Koufos is expendable, if he gets ejected, that’s fine, and you get the benefit of Curry having to come out of the game. Does no one remember that his ankles are made out of fragile glass and can be broken with barely more than a tap?
