Before this game, Torrey “Storreytime” Craig was 8-of-44 from three on the season. At 19%, that’s like Giannis levels of shooting inability. That’s like rookie John Wall levels of shooting inability, But with his 3-of-4 three-point shooting performance in this one, he’s bumped his percentage up to 23%! Still terrible, and still definitely in the “you don’t get to shoot three-pointers” range, but a marked improvement over the previous mark.
I can’t be too hard on him. Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and Trey Lyles are also under the 30% line for three-pointers that dictates whether or not you’re allowed to shoot them (Jokic is exempt from that rule because he is a Serb). But Craig is still worse than all of them and he can’t change the fact that he shot under 30% last season as well, so I’m starting to doubt his long-term viability as an NBA long-gunner.
Nevertheless, I would appreciate it if the Nuggets commentators would exclaim “It’s Storreytime!” on the rare occasion that Craig does hit a three-pointer. Then, I can tally up the their exclamations and send them an invoice so I can get my royalty checks from them. $1,000 per usage. I really need this money.
